Single-ply board

BBS 5-layered construction

Single-ply board glued on the
flanks = longitudinal layer

Every longitudinal layer of BBS is manufactured from glued single-ply boards.

This leads to smooth surfaces without grooves on both sides, as well as a continuous sealed and compact cross-section with the following advantages:

High level fire prevention
In case of fire, with a 5-layer construction for example, 2 layers can burn away completely and a 3-layer BBS is left with a closed surface on both sides. This guarantees a high reliability against burning right through and an impermeability to smoke. Due to this, chimney effects, which can develop through open grooves and hollow spaces respectively, are definitely prevented.

High level noise protection
From a 5-layer BBS upwards for example, 2 layers can be fully removed on-site when installing, and a [on-site] 3-layered BBS with closed surfaces on both sides is left over. Longitudinal sound lines in the element through grooves and hollow spaces respectively [channelling] are practically impossible.

High level heat insulation
The whole BBS contributes to heat insulation due to the full thickness. Because both of the surfaces are always smooth, without grooves and closed, warm air cannot rapidly get into the inside of the element [and therefore into colder layers] via grooves.

Water vapour diffusion
with its average µ value of 70 BBS always has a vapour dampening effect, however, never stopping vapour completely, and this all-over if the element joints are professionally constructed appropriately, because every single longitudinal layer is a glued single-ply board. This is why we can normally completely do without vapour dampening or vapour stopping foils [price advantage, ecology, no permanent connection problems with foils].

High wind tightness
because both of the BBS surfaces are always manufactured smoothly, without grooves and closed, no wind can get into the inside of the element [and therefore into warmer layers] via grooves. BBS is guaranteed wind tight, independent from the amount of layers. Normally, when the element butts are appropriately and professionally constructed, this all-over, wind tight, effect can be taken into account and no additional sealing layers are necessary [price advantage, ecology, no permanent connection problems with foils].

High reliability
against structural damages during the execution of construction work. As both BBS surfaces are always manufactured smoothly, without grooves and closed, no dampness or rainfall can penetrate into the element. Normally, when the element joints are appropriately and professionally constructed, the dampness seal channels can be partly [apart from in the joint area] or completely done without depending on the situation. The moisture only penetrates a few mm into the top layer of the element and diffuses back out again within a short period of time. In this way, you are protected against possible damages e.g. unexpected rainfall.
